Woohoo another week

Another batch of minis getting working on. I started on stuff today and got some small things done before my hand cramped up. I got a commission to finish next week as well as getting started on the ork bomba this weekend. I got a wedding to go too so it might cramp my already awesome style haha. Next week sees some more things done and shipping out this huge Reaver - Check out the video from BOLS - REAVER!. It was a beast to paint up - about 7 hours of paint time. I have methods to do metal that are mindless and easy - just can take awhile on something that big.

Beyond that - look for me getting on video on Friday to paint stuff and chat. I will post the link again earlier and a better time frame. Hopefully I can get my audio to work so you can hear my beautiful voice. Hah.

It is right around 2000 pts so if you want to go 1850 - look at dropping one of the rhino squads are dropping the fists/ss from them. And a power sword and fist from the Death Company. It is a pretty go big list and I think it would work out pretty well. Plus how fun is it to go zoom zoom with Storm Ravens.

I've got some new ideas for Wolf Star armies. The biggest thing I have been seeing with them is the lack of any real troop presence. Your Grey Hunters are so good. They are just great and if you can create what I like to call - turn 3+ advantages with your troops you have a good chance of winning. So really look at 30+ grey hunters in your Wolf Star builds. I got some tricks that I think might push it up and really make people mad. As usual people won't listen to me so I will post it anyway.

So basically you join the 3 Wolf Lords to the 5 Wolves + the Wolf Priest. You can join them because anyone can join the Dogs. The Saga of the Hunter gives a 3+ cover most likely to the dogs and the guys etc. Plus they are fearless which means a less likely chance that they eat it to PBS's. You also got some interesting Long Fang configs. You got a set up that puts out 9 heavy bolters into something as well as 4 ML into a vehicle. Pretty spicey. The extra WG is an extra wound for the 5 ML Long Fang squad. What he always makes his 4+ cover save or his 3+ armor save. Cuz he is a jerk.

Tweaks you can do to it is drop one of the lords and get a lot more stuff. It might be worth wile that way like adding in another troop squad which wouldn't be terrible. The extra wound WG can join that squad if need be. Still it is a thought for sure. Try it out if you want. I think it will give more staying power especially when the "wolf" star dies. The extra Thunder Wolf Cav is your extra WG battle leader :).

Woohoo - so all in all ok for the week. Will see what I get done tonight and tomorrow. We got a paint day at a friends place - and the plan is to finish Bushido's 27 bases for his Death Wing tomorrow so he can have all of that. So hopefully lots get done.

I got a video of the Reaver that will come up soon. That will be great as well as better pictures. Good times indeed.

I got a game in with the Word Bearers versus Foot Eldar. Man I wish I had a rune priest as Eldrad was in combat for like 6 rounds of getting hit by power weapons and fists. I won in the end but it still took forever. His harlies did do no wounds to my squad so that was hilarious even with Doom :). It was just one of those games for Matt. The full batrep will go up soon on Bols.

I was supposed to play another game but I got a lovely claw from my bank that said someone had taken my credit card number again and tried to charge a large amount to Walmart in another area of the US. Awesome eh? Got my temp card so that is good but still. WTF people. Come on it isn't like you get anything nor is it really worth it. It makes people have a shitty day and I hope you get something in return for annoying me.

Will have another update this Sunday and a new Blood Angels list thought :). I think it might be the "IT" army for me with Storm Ravens but will have to see. It does have 2 and give the feeling of nutbar 40k too. And hell that is all I want in a list :).

Lets see how much hate I get this week. I swear if I have to hear that I ruin the game for someone I just want to say - good you obviously need to stop playing because someone having fun making new models makes you want to quit the game then you need to look at what you are spending your time on. Really. I should have no power or control beyond the stupid games I play. I just like to make evil looking stuff and have fun. If that hurts your feelings then really - just stop playing the game. Really the game is all about inspiration you take from it and having fun. And if you are not having fun in some way then stop. I guess I just need to be more of an asshole to really get the true hate going on. But I can't do that - cuz this Goatboy is a sweetheart haha.

Goatboy - 40k and other stuff!

Another day painting. I had a crazy weekend. I got some educational commission work done, finished the Chaos Reaver Titan, got my weekly miniature painting sprayed (most of it), and did some art work for another client. Fun fun fun. Basically I woke up, started working and tried not to get too bogged down. The life of a freelancer can be annoying - especially when you have a day job to make things fit bill wise :).

Looks like peeps are mad at me again online. I think it comes from me writing a lot and being a "face" most of the time. Everyone who has met me has not said anything terrible about me. Well not to my face hah. Still it is kinda funny - especially to those who chat with me online. The hated Goatboy. I should just change my name to Hateboy. If I did that Mr. Black would have to stop hating me though. He has that unnatural fear of Goat like animals.

I can take down 3 light things with the set up of Long Fangs. I got a lot of troops and other bits and pieces. It has different HQ characters too - given the idea of the Captain, Chaplin, and Squad Leader type of guy. It has a Wolf Claw dude riding a horse - which is funny as hell looking haha. So I think it will work and be it. I need to find one more Heavy Bolter dude and I will be done!

I played two games with the Storm Ravens. I lost to Big Red on a turn 5 Fritz win :). And I won versus JWolf when I made almost all the 4+ cover save hits on the Storm Ravens and then watched as my stuff got mixed in and killed stuff. I think everything I shot I killed or hurt - with a gun that JWolf shot scatter on himself and blow up his own tank. It was just one of those games for him.

I think Marines would benefit the most from the Storm Raven if they got it. Wolves would have some issues as it would be a heavy and take up Long Fang spots for a rather expensive vehicle. If they could fit Thunder Wolves in there it would be an auto in - but thankfully it most likely can't so we won't have to worry about that BS. It would be fun to get Bjorn into the zone more though. Of course he wouldn't attach via the Anus like normal dreads. It would be crotch all the time haha.

Alright - enough of that here are some painted things. The Reaver will get better pics later this week and then it is shipped off to Canada.

1850 on the nose - this is what I will be testing and see if I like it. I think it might work out better and give me more umph. There is no more tricks with Stealth but that just means I have to go and hit them. So will test this out. I think more Grey Hunters just works versus massed Razorbacks. Plus I can just drive up and get there and punch em. That is what I like in any of my armies.

The new Grey Knights are looking mean. Will see if they actually show up as a good army. I just think Lash is so good versus them as any bad movement will slow them down. It is the same with JaWs - 2++ eat it!

Goatboy - Woohoo Hate Allergies

Damn allergies just suck. The constant flux in weather is making my allergies, mind, and dark corrupted soul squirm in snot infused agony. Blargh!!! But at least I know today will be a good one because when I came into work I heard House of Pain's Jump Around. No day can suck when that song ends your day :).

So far this week has been kinda meh on the paint front. I did finish some things just not as much as I would want. This current batch of cold will keep me from priming once again so it will most likely become an art/catch up week etc. And some building.

I am looking at rebuilding Kharn for my Fabius bile army. A crazy big mutant running around crushing stuff. That is what is in my head so will see if it comes out when I paint him up. He will be based off the armored Black Orc from Fantasy. It is one of those armies that I just enjoy playing because it is so random. Plus it has a ton of good assault stuff :).

I will be bringing the Grammar Wolves this Thursday to do some more game testing with. Beyond that there is a tournament this Saturday with weird rules. I might just go to help judge as I think it would make for a smoother run tournament. Plus I can look at building and finishing my Storm Raven or two :). If the 2nd one comes in today.

Played a tournament this Saturday with the Word Bearers. Went 1-1-1 with them and feel like I need to tweak some things. Current "list" with changes below. It really steams from needing more feet on the table top so that means painting more dudemens. It never ends for the Goatboy. At least whoever buys the army will have a lot of options with it as is usually when I build an army up.

Game 1 - Chaos with lots of Khorne Bezerkers - Chris was his name and he is a young guy. Basically everything that could go wrong went wrong. He tried to lash my bikers -I made my 5+ save to stop it. From there it was just a chomp chomp chompie chomp the whole way through. He failed all his cover saves. It was like - one lascannon shot - hit, penetrate, and pop you out. Funny thing is that he scatter off me and landing on my bikes who got the 2+ trick - and I failed 3 of them with 1's. Poops! I maxed out on this game.

Game 2 - Playing Darkwynn with his Dark Eldar. I lost this one and the big blow was losing my long fangs after one round of shooting at them to a failed leadership check. 9 is good right? If they stayed around I could have dumped all his mobility and then just shot him out - but that left me with enough crucial fire to take down his flyers. Good game for sure and a good "learning" game as I felt I just needed more feet on the table for sure.

Game 3 - Playing Brandon or Minus67 with his Calgar marines. I killed all his troops but it was one of those weird games where things were going wrong both sides. We tied in the end but it was like - 7 Missiles and I only hit with 3 type of game. Good game all the way as usual with Brandon. Calgar survived a crap ton of damage with his 4+ as did my Wolf Priest. My Wolf Lord did not die to Lascannons and was a pain the ass too. The mission was bad but that will all get fixed next time.

I got 4th overall with Brandon getting 5th due to not being fully painted. Darkwynn got 2nd too. Good game. I bought a Storm Raven so look for the Goat Angels to come out in a few months as I get ready to play some Death Dreads in your face.

Goatboy's 40k Extra - WOOHOO I make people mad.

Well if you are a BOLS reader you know I kicked someone's puppy, took their parking spot, and probably peed in some cheerios. It is pretty interesting and I wonder if they hate the Wolves dex more then they hate the army. At least I got a of it looks good :). I guess people just hate people playing "Chaos" Wolves. So in order to take away the whole Word Bearers vibe the army is now called - THE GRAMMAR WOLVES!!! - Keeping grammar safe through out the galaxy - bearing words and making sure the dull point of prose of sharp and aggressive!

It is pretty interesting to see that even though the army is fully painted - wyswig - and within the rules of the game it still makes people mad. Oh well. I will play it - have a good time with opponents as they beat up on my little ponies and have a good time. You would think people would be happy I am not all about Goat this and Goat that. I do plan on painting Grey Knights as Grey Knights. I like the design so I am all about it. Shit isn't this game about having fun?

I keep getting more and more excited about the UK trip for Geek Nation Tours. I am bringing along my awesome wife so she can experience Britain. Lucky for us Teras is going to be doing some tour stuff for her that fits within the gaming tour. So if you are thinking of going and have a wife, girlfriend, etc that wants to go to Britain - see a lot of cool stuff - but the gaming thing might not be up their alley - Teras can set something up for ya. It should be an awesome time and I can't wait to get overseas to have people kick my Hot Dog, Apple Pie, and Gas Guzzling SUV butt all over the place.

I am going to do some interviews on BOLS with the tour from past tour peeps. It should be fun and a lot of them are going again - which is pretty awesome as they obviously had a blast. Woohoo!!! This is gonna be fun.
